  1. My Little Pet

From the recording My Little Pet

Lyrics

Maybe you've got a pet cat,
Who purrs and rubs against your legs.
Maybe you go home to a dog,
Who jumps up and licks your face.

But call me strange, or just plain sick,
When you hear about my companion.
My pocket’s where he likes to be,
And this is how we met, you see...

It was a hot and muggy night,
Frogs were croaking in the distance,
I was staring into space,
just listening to the crickets.

I was feelin' like I could hardly move,
The air felt like sludge
When upon my big toe,
I felt a sticky nudge.

I looked down in the grass,
And saw a tiny, slimy surprise,
A little guy all covered in mucous,
Lookin‘ up into my eyes.

I sure do love
My little pet slug.
He gives me lots of hugs
Every day.
We always talk a lot,
And he's always in my thoughts,
He's my favorite gastropod,
Far and away.

And when it's time to go bed,
He curls right up beside my head.
Even if his goodnight kisses are a little wet,
I sure do love
My little pet slug.

Some folks think he's yucky.
Some folks think he's gross.
But I feel really lucky.
He's the mollusk that I love the most.

I sure do love
My little pet slug.
He gives me lots of hugs
Every day.
We always talk a lot,
And he's always in my thoughts,
He's my favorite gastropod,
Far and away.

And when it's time to go bed,
He curls right up beside my head.
Even if his goodnight kisses are a little wet,
I sure do love
My little pet slug.
